Before joining Transparentem, Gioia worked at the International Rescue Committee (IRC), a humanitarian aid and refugee resettlement organization operating in over 50 countries worldwide. At the IRC, she developed strategies to strengthen relationships with the organization’s high-net-worth individuals, corporate partners, and foundations and trusts. During numerous campaigns and emergency responses, she crafted communication materials to provide donors with information on evolving and complex crises.
Previously, Gioia was selected as a Princeton in Africa Fellow. She also earned a B.A. in International Relations from the University of Richmond, where she worked as a research assistant co-authoring “Assessing the Global Slavery Index”, an article analyzing the frequency of modern-day slavery around the world. The article is published in the SAGE Handbook for Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery.
