Accomplished international labor and human rights leader Tara Winter joins Transparentem as Executive Director, effective September 2, 2025. She takes over from Founder E. Benjamin Skinner, who has served as Transparentem’s President since its inception in 2015.
“This is an important moment in Transparentem’s history. As we celebrate our 10th anniversary and look to the next decade, Tara’s vision, experience, and deep commitment to workers’ and human rights make her the ideal leader to guide the organization forward. I could not be prouder to pass the organization, its mission, and the leadership of an exceptional team to her.”
– E. Benjamin Skinner
Tara joins Transparentem as it expands its efforts to combat forced labor, child labor, and severe environmental degradation across global industries, while driving private and public sector reform. She will work closely with the organization’s Board, staff, and global partners to scale Transparentem’s impact and ensure that workers’ and communities’ voices are at the center of supply chain solutions.
Her career weaves together every strand of Transparentem’s mission. She spent nearly 15 years as a senior leader at the ILO/IFC Better Work program, where she led teams partnering with businesses, governments, and workers to improve labor and environmental standards in industries employing millions of people across Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
Most recently, Tara served as Executive Director of the International Rescue Committee in Northern California, overseeing nearly 400 staff supporting more than 10,000 refugees, asylum seekers, and survivors of human trafficking each year. Earlier in her career, she was a Managing Director at Business for Social Responsibility, where she launched pioneering collaborations between companies and civil society, and an investigative journalist, reporting in English and Spanish across the United States, Latin America, and Africa on labor abuses.
