MAURITIUS – Leading brands including PVH, which owns Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger, have agreed to pay more than $400,000 to garment workers in Mauritius after an investigation found migrants had paid illegal recruitment fees for their jobs.
It follows a report from the US-based Transparentem nonprofit which interviewed 83 workers during a two-year modern slavery investigation into four garment manufacturers, Denim de l’Ile (DDI), Firemount Group, REAL Garments and Aquarelle Clothing, on the island.
